May 12 - Property agents in the Mouille Point area in Cape Town have
reported that homes continue to go for record prices, despite the current slump
in the market.
The upcoming World Cup extravaganza, the superb location of the area, and the
luxury apartments up for sale all mean that Mouille Points remains a desired
neighborhood.
Pam Golding Properties recently sold a penthouse apartment in Mouille Point
for a record amount - the third highest sale for a property achieved in this
location in the past three years.
"This buyer was immediately appreciative of the location, close to the V & A
Waterfront and the City Bowl, with outstanding views of Table Bay and Robben
Island," said the Area Manager for PGP for the Atlantic Seaboard and City Bowl
regions, Basil Moraitis. "The apartment's extraordinary interior and finishes,
as well as its concierge service and tight security, sealed the deal."
Understandably, the FIFA World Cup soccer event in 2010 is pushing the value
of property up in the areas surrounding Green Point, where a new and futuristic
soccer stadium is being built.
With thousands expected to descend on the Mother City during the soccer
event, the price of property is expected to start rising steadily.
"The bulk of our buyers this year have been local," explained Laurie Wener,
who acts as the Managing Director of Pam Golding Properties Western Cape metro
region, "although our agents are reporting increasing number of foreign
enquiries."
"The forthcoming World Cup and the emerging new stadium, in all its
architectural splendor, is focusing attention on the Mouille Point area," she
concluded.
