September 16 - One of the most difficult things about purchasing a home in
the current South African property market is wading through all the information
(and misinformation) regarding the issue of credit.
By now, it is no secret that the times of walking into any bank, applying for
a home loan or a bridging loan and then waiting for it to be approved are long
gone. Today, the average potential home buyer will need to do some serious
homework, usually with the assistance of a financial expert or a bond
originator, in order to check whether there is even a chance of receiving
approval on that home loan application.
Changes began to happen in the loans industry with the implementation of the
National Credit Act (NCA), leaving many people left to try and figure out
the new law alone.
Thankfully, a new book has come out onto the market that gives people
practical advice about applying for a loan and dealing with the finances under
the NCA. "The Credit Guide - Manage your Money with the National Credit Act"
(ed. Nicky Campbell and Stephen Logan), guides consumers through the entire
cycle of credit, beginning with an explanation of the law, right through to how
loan applications are considered.
One of the main advantage of "The Credit Guide" is that it offers lots of
practical information, ranging from advice on how to fill in a loans application
form to settling home loan agreements early.
Everything that consumers need to know about the New Credit Act is included
in this book. It shows all aspects of the Act, including different services that
are available to consumers that they may not have been aware of, such as debt
counseling.
"The Credit Guide" is written in clear, lucid language, making it easy even
for the greenest consumer to understand the concept of credit. Handy tips,
practical advice and interesting chapters make this book a must-have on any
shelf.
